Self Guided Touring
Experienced riders can enjoy the freedom of riding when and where they want
making their own plans for distance per day, rest stops, accommodation and meals. Self guided
rides are aided by good route maps and a cell phone to get assistance if required.
Before going on a long ride ensure that your bicycle is in good condition. Always
carry a spare inner tube for your tires and a tire pump, since this is the most common repair.
Learn to change the tube in your bike tires or ride with someone who does.
Cycling groups may be able to provide their own support vehicle driven by one of the group
members. This can be a friend who does not want to bicycle or shared among those
who wish to ride a shorter distance. Another option is to have one of the riders start out driving
the vehicle to the end of the days ride and then bicycling back to meet the other riders,
finsihing the ride with them.
