64 to 79 kilometers (40 to 49 miles) per day.
Average 70 kilometers (43 miles) per day
Mostly flat with a few hills, moderate.  Loop route.

Waterfront Trail, St. Lawrence Islands and Seaway, peaceful country roads, historic Upper Canada Village, waterfront. This tour is the southern part of the 6 day tour cycling north from the St. Lawrence River.

The route is partially on the Waterfront Trail and mostly on quiet paved roads through farming areas.  The route goes close to the shore of the St. Lawrence River through several small towns including Morrisburg, Winchester and St. Albert, home of a popular cheese factory.


The route uses bicycle friendly roads with paved shoulders or where motor vehicle traffic is light so drivers can easily leave space around you. Ontario law requires all drivers of motor vehicles to maintain a minimum distance of one meter, where practical, when passing cyclists on highways.

This is our newest tour area with two cultural traditions, featuring  French speaking areas in Eastern Ontario along with the early Loyalist heritage of the St. Lawrence valley.  Two nights, Casselman and Alexandria, are in French speaking Ontario  Speak French if you choose but this area is very bilingual. 

Enjoy the 
waterfront routes along the St Lawrence River.  You cross islands in the St. Lawrence River passing through areas affected by the creation of the St. Lawrence Seaway in 1959 which permits ocean going ships to navigate the Great Lakes. 

The popular St Albert Cheese Coop on the route welcomes visitors with eleven gourmet poutines. fresh cheese curds and a Curd Festival in mid August.

The route is accessible for cyclists and motor vehicles crossing the St. Lawrence on the Seaway International Bridge to Cornwall from Massena New York USA.  Coming from Quebec, it is about 100 kilometers from Montreal to Cornwall.
